We are pleased to inform you that our firm’s partner, Mrs. Agathi Nikolaou, is now officially registered and licensed as a Mediator in Cyprus. Thus, our firm is now offering Mediation services, as Mediators or Advocates of a Party in Mediation.

What is Mediation? Mediation is one of the methods of Alternative Dispute Resolution available to parties. Mediation is essentially a negotiation facilitated by a neutral third party. Unlike arbitration, which is a process of ADR somewhat like trial, mediation doesn't involve decision making by the neutral third party.

There are numerous advantages of mediation such as:

  • Control: the disputing parties make their own decision, and the processes are less stressful than a Court’s proceedings.
  • Confidentiality: the process of mediation is private and confidential, and no one can rely on it without the expressed consent of the other party.
  • Time: the mediation process is faster compared to the court’s proceedings.
  • Cost: mediation is very cost-effective, and it’s a tiny fraction of the court costs.
  • Enforceability: the decision made by the parties can be enforced through the court in case of breach by any party.
  • Flexibility: the mediator has no power to impose his/her decision, the parties make their own decision and the agreement between the parties through the mediation process could be tailored according to the party’s requirements.
